Everybody thinks their child is the cutest...

... and we are no exception. We are blessed to have a son like Karl. He is smart, funny, charming, curious, determined, affectionate, amiable, a talker.... just cute. Since he was 2 weeks old he would sleep around six hours a night, and now he sleeps an average of 12 and takes at least one 2 (to 3) hours nap in the afternoon. He is also a good traveler, when we went to Sweden we were told that he was the best behaved baby in the airplane. In our long distance drives he is also very good, he likes to sleep and listen to music. He likes to entertain himself, he is obsessed with toy cars, he can push them for hours, he also loves being outside, watch papa mow and swing. When he sees or hears a dog, he likes to bark at them, and now he thinks any animal he sees is a dog and just barks back. He is also a very good eater, he will eat everything you put in his mouth, OK except chicken gerber and oatmeal. Did I mention he has never been sick? but for the occasional runny nose. He is teething (he got his first tooth at 13 months!) and he barely complains.... I must say though that he suffers from severe butt rashes once in a while, and the poor little thing hates them. I think he is more sensitive to those than his teeth.
He is going to be 14 months the 17th and he is not walking... I guess he is just fine then he likes to push his little plastic chair everywhere and climb things (which scares me to death but what can I do? - he is just being a boy). He is a very fast crawler, and when he is in a mission he can be faster than anybody trying to catch him. Among his many obsessions he loves daddy's mouse. When he notices that the office is open and all the equipment is unattended he sprints there and first thing he does is reach for the mouse. He moves daddy's chair, stands in his tip toes and stretches his arm as far as he can. Or climbs the chair. When the mouse is unreachable he just pretends to type on the keyboard. I can go and go telling stories about the little guy and never end. We just enjoy him so much that there are no words to describe what we feel for him.
In the last weeks he has become a little needy, he will play with his car and suddenly reach for me or Erik and give us hugs.... maybe he knows a baby brother is coming... He also likes to pull our clothes to get up and point for things that he cannot reach, specially food.
I hope that when the baby arrives, he continues being just Karl, the little boy we adore. And we also hope that the new baby will be as easy going as his older brother...my job would be so easy...
That is my dream! But I also know that things can be very different... I can just hope. No mater what happens in the next couple of months, I think we will still be fascinated by our little boys, like every parent is. And we will love them indefinitely.
